Wal-Mart Category Expansion Analyst

Department Description: Create a trend/insight reporting process for WM’s buying teams to leverage.
Determine what merchandising plays are required to win in retail over the next 12-18 months in terms of product coverage, partnership, and infrastructure.
Identify right approach to drive sales and build brand and retail equity by making a connection with consumers in the retail environment.
Deliver strategic vision by benchmarking best practices from retail format tests.
Research, analyze, and present consumer insights, sales trends, category and industry knowledge to assist our internal and external business partners.

Responsibilities/Expectations: Collect category sales data to analyze and uncover new retail opportunities that can be leveraged at POS.
Interface with multiple business units (internally & externally) to collect and process relevant roadmaps and industry data for Wal-Mart’s Buying teams.
Develop a consistent process for obtaining and updating forecasts for all businesses.
Create, attend, and present relevant category information and insight for all internal operating reviews and external presentations where needed.
Monitor and analyze ads and promotions (competitors/ retailers) to ensure Wal-Mart maintains competitive advantages and uniqueness at retail POS
Provide promotional effectiveness analysis and recommendations
Drive Retail merchandising in the following areas:
Merchandising assortment for profitability
Manage day to day activities of assortment profitability measurements.
Utilize data-driven decision making and analytics to measure sales performance, profitability, promotional effectiveness to category and sku levels.
Create more strategic opportunities by fully leveraging synergy within respective in-store categories including music, photos, computers, and automotive.
Deliver impeccable comprehension of industry growth trends and technological direction to ensure WM is on the forefront of the wireless product life cycle^^

Knowledge Skills: 4 years of business experience (in hard-goods retail or wireless industry)
Cross-functional experience in sales, finance, engineering, business development, process improvement, and program Mgmt.
Demonstrated experience on cross-collaborative initiatives and matrixed organizational structures.
1 year project management with ability to translate qualities into quantifiable results.
Proven ability to build and sustain customers’ trust
2 years financial analysis.
2 years consumer electronics industry knowledge.
Experience presenting to and working with other senior management team members inside Motorola and outside
