The Hospital came into being in 1854 when a catastrophic explosion created the need to treat the many injured. In 1994, The Institute of Living, a psychiatric hospital founded in 1822, became the Mental Health Division of Hartford Hospital.

Hours: FTFunctioning within the framework for professional nursing practice, the Unit Manager supports and assists the Service Director. This position has accountability for managing resources (human, material and financial) to ensure quality, cost effective delivery of patient services for Surgical Trauma ICU patient populations . Reports to Service Director.As a teaching hospital, Hartford Hospital is a primary affiliate of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and Dentistry for both graduate and undergraduate medical education.

REQUIREMENTS
Current CT RN License required. BS required, Master's Degree preferred. One degree must be in Nursing. * Exceptions to the educational requirement will be evaluated on an individual basis. For example, a strong candidate in the process of completing the educational requirement will be considered. Continued progress toward completion of the educational requirement within five years will be required. Minimum of 3 years of relevant clinical experience. Critical care experience required. Demonstrated progressive leadership skills and strong written and verbal communication skills required. Certification in Nursing Administration within 5 years of assuming position.
