Therapeutic Recreation ManagerAshlar of Newtown, an affiliate of Masonicare is a 156 bed not-for-profit Long Term Care and Short Term Sub-acute Rehab facility conveniently located in Newtown, CT next to I-84, Rte. 25 and Rte. 34.
We currently have an opening for a Therapeutic Recreation Manager.
The Therapeutic Recreation Manager Plans and directs recreational programs to maximize functioning in social, physical, psychological, and cognitive areas. he/She organizes and administers the volunteer program in such a way as to obtain, train, supervise, and support competent, adequate and satisfied staff of volunteers to work in the various departments of the facility.Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:1.Hires, orientates, and supervises all recreation staff. Develops standards for performance and evaluates performance.2.Develops departmental goals and objectives and establishes and implements policies and procedures for departmental operations.3.Develops departmental salary, expense, and capital budgets.
4.Ensures the delivery of quality recreation therapy services for residents by identifying resident needs, completing assessments and developing quality programming.5.Plans and implements group activities, trips, special events and entertainments.6.Oversees all treatment and reporting methods of the department.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:Education/Registration:Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Therapy.
Experience: Thorough knowledge of various recreational therapy treatments and methods for reporting.Licensure: Preferred certification in CATRD, NCTRC and NCCAP.Excellent oral/written communication skills, knowledge of plan design, excellent interpersonal skills, working knowledge of budgets and budgetary processes. Supervisory/management skills.
