Strategic Sourcing Manager - IT/Telecom

Aon Consulting has been entrusted to conduct a search for a Product Manager for one of the fastest growing companies in their industry. This position is located in Shelton, CT. Our client is the largest equipment rental company in the world, with more than 750 rental locations throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico Their diverse customer base includes construction and industrial companies, utilities, municipalities, and homeowners.
Reporting to the Strategic Sourcing Director, this position is responsible for managing supplier relationships and for the identification and realization of cost savings opportunities across United Rentals for IT and Telecom purchases of approximately $43 Million annually. This role will also be responsible for managing the daily operations of these categories and has one direct report.
REQUIREMENTS
Perform sourcing activities for hardware, software, wireless, data and voice lines and communication services to include: Spend analysis Establishing company standards for these categories based on company requirements defined by the IT organization and field locations Perform market analysis Develop category sourcing strategies Perform RFIs, RFPs and reverse auctions o Negotiate contracts Develop and execute implementation and compliance plans Lead the development of policies related to category usage to drive savings Measure, manage, and report on service levels of key providers Manage the daily execution of the categories to include: Centralized billing processes Tracking assets Manage and work with 3rd parties supporting the sourcing and operations of these purchases Manages $43 Million in annual spend of all company locations CPIM/CPM or equivalent desirable At least 5-7 years of progressive experience in business Experience sourcing IT and Telecom in large company Background/experience in spend analysis and sourcing; proven results in reducing costs, ideally in relevant supply areas Experience with e-Sourcing applications a plus Strong project management skills Ability to work independently Ability to interface effectively with people at all levels and in all functions; good communication and presentation skills Ability to “sell” services within the organization Attention to detail Sense of urgency Advanced Microsoft Office skills Exceptional negotiating skills and experience, and the capability and desire to train others in this strategic skill set Experience in establishing, communicating and managing Supplier Performance Metrics (cost/timeliness/quality); vendor relationship management experience Success in a consultative role, i.e., proven ability to influence without authority Proven ability to drive business results; knowledge/experience with cost saving metrics A highly intelligent, savvy, analytical, strategic thinker Strong business acumen Strong record of success in strategic sourcing.
