Title: Staff Director Marketing (MK1006) Work Group: Corp Mktg/Advertising Classification: Regular Full-Time Location: 1801 California St Denver, CO Typical Work Hours: Employees are scheduled to work at least forty (40) hours per calendar week Job Summary /Responsibilities: This position leads the Customer Analytics group within Marketing.. This team provides customer insight and data analysis designed to dramatically improve our marketing performance, direct marketing optimization, new product development, capital investment, and overall profitability among our most important customer segments. This position works very closely with all functions across the marketing, marketing communications, product, and finance organizations and provides critical analysis needed to determine the level of investment in our marketing spend. This position is expected to identify and lead new analytic approaches and work in partnership with other teams across the business to apply this learning to decision-making. This position is responsible for managing a team of four highly skilled analysts plus manage key vendor relationships. Key functions of the position include but are not limited to the following: Work with individual modeling and customer insight managers to brainstorm, review work, enhance skill sets, and align with core objectives of the business.. Work with internal clients to understand information needs and gaps, prioritization of work efforts, and techniques for meeting their needs. Identify key outside expertise and explore best in class approaches. Manage all vendor relationships that are identified for segmentation team. Drive awareness, understanding and usage of information/analysis in development of new strategies. Develop and track metrics measuring the effectiveness of models, segmentation, and optimization efforts. Utilize knowledge to “course correct” efforts to achieve desired outcome. Utilize metrics to demonstrate value of team’s output. Interact in a dynamic, team-based work environment to achieve company goals, exceed management expectations and develop analytic and interpersonal skills. Maintain close relationship with clients to understand their business objectives. Utilize the database to proactively surface relevant analysis and opportunities to support client's key business objectives. Provide tactical marketing and analysis support to clients including: extensive customer profiling, new customer segmentation designs, customer lifetime value analysis, response and attrition models, holistic customer business views, marketing effectiveness models, and in-depth campaign assessment. Serve as a team member on complex, strategic analysis projects ensuring high quality deliverables and relevant recommendations. Proactively identify opportunities to generate revenue and cut costs by identifying potential new markets, monitoring customer shifts, purchasing patterns, etc. Act as an internal consultant on critical analytic needs for the business. Work closely with advertising and direct mail partners to optimize their effectiveness through enhanced targeting designs, segmentation, and marketing mix models to determine optimal spend allocation. Summarize analytical data into user-friendly reports translating highly technical, detailed data into appropriate recommendations for marketing execution. Partner with other resources (inside and outside the company) as necessary. Assume other responsibilities as requested. Basic Qualifications, Skills and Education: Minimum of 7 years of similar experience leading a team of highly sophisticated statistical modelers; preferably 5 years in a direct marketing environment. Strong hands on statistical expertise with various techniques Hands on experience in translating statistical analysis to actionable results (especially in working with non-technical people) Experience in both consumer and business oriented marketing. Working knowledge of SAS, SPSS, or other technical software. Comfortable in working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Experienced in interacting with senior management and influencing decision-making. Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Education: § Advanced degree in statistics, business, or marketing desired.
