MANAGEMENT AND REPORTING STRUCTURE
The Senior Deal Structuring Manager is part of the Single Family Investor Channel group and will report to the Senior Deal Structuring Manager "Team Lead" who, in turn, reports to the Director, Investor Transactions.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Deal Structuring Manager is responsible for managing lender portfolio transactions, including:Thoroughly analyzing all critical aspects (e.g. credit risk, pricing, legal, operational, market environment) to create a reasoned and balanced execution recommendation, and driving deals to closure. Assumes responsibility for total production from the team in which assigned. Looked upon as subject matter expert. Responsible for training of Deal Structuring Manager's (DSM) on assigned team. Conducting effective interaction with numerous internal departments and leveraging resources in order to construct comprehensive business solutions, which are in the best interests of the corporation and customer. Preparing for transaction analysis by coordinating with regional account teams to understand lender background and motivation. Absorbing information and data from multiple sources, applying analytical skills, and producing thoughtful and strategic recommendations for ultimate presentation to the customer by the account team or for direct presentation to internal business units. Relaying critical market information and insight to DSM's on assigned team. Managing both internal and external expectations by ensuring that all relevant parties understand roles and deadlines. Presenting deal description and bid recommendation to senior management. Diligently and accurately completing required deal documentation, including obtaining requisite approvals, and updating deal database tracking/management reporting systems.
Achieving the goals of the department and the Single Family Business are directly affected by the leadership and actions taken by the individual in this position. Therefore, the Senior Deal Structuring Manager will need to seek ways to improve the functioning of the unit through process improvement ideas and implementation, keeping abreast of strategic and business issues, and actively participating in various cross functional meetings in order to promote the group and its corporate objectives internally and externally.
REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will have the following professional qualifications:
BS or BA (MBA a plus) in Finance or related field, or equivalent job-related experience in the secondary or primary mortgage market.
A minimum of five year's industry experience in a secondary or primary mortgage market position with specific experience in any/all of the following areas: capital markets, balance sheet management, or portfolio management.
Thorough knowledge of Fannie Mae's mortgage purchase programs, credit guidelines, and automated underwriting technology.
Solid understanding of personal computers and software programs including Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word, as well as the ability to utilize various other database applications and pricing and credit evaluation tools.
Demonstrated strong project management, organizational, problem solving and analytical skills.
The ability to make thoughtful, prudent business decisions and to work independently in a dynamic environment is required.
The ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize transactions is also required.
The ability to identify issues related to our core business and offer creative solutions to enhancing our business volume and our relationships with customers.
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills.
Proven ability to develop strong working relationships and function effectively within a team environment
