Position Summary:
This sourcing manager will report directly to the Director of Sourcing. He/she will be responsible for the procurement of chemicals required to support our Supply Chain / Operating Platform. The Sourcing Manager will develop and implement sourcing strategies and initiatives, procurement activities, supplier relationship management, cost reduction and process improvement. The Sourcing Manager works closely with customers (internal and external) and suppliers to leverage the supply chain capabilities to meet/exceed customer requirements at the lowest total cost of ownership.
Essential Job Functions and Accountabilies:
•Manage Sourcing and procurement for chemicals and supply base to meet key business metrics including quality, delivery, continuity of supply and total cost of ownership.•Develop and deliver annual Sourcing savings commitment for chemicals.•Analyze spend to identify continuous improvement opportunities (cost reduction, value added, streamline processes, innovation)•Select suppliers, establish price, terms and conditions, negotiate, execute and manage supply agreements/contracts•Manage/develop effective supplier relationships, continuous improvement initiatives and drive supplier performance management process.•Maintain timely and accurate knowledge of key materials, supply markets/industries and services – viewed as “in-house expert”.•Actively support the new product development process relative to sourcing of materials and services to meet business unit driven projects as required.•Effectively interact with all levels of internal and external management•Partner with R&D on specification changes and new development opportunities
REQUIREMENTS
Educational Qualifications and Experience:
•BS/BA degree in business, supply chain management, engineering or related major. MBA a plus•Retail / consumer products purchasing experience highly desirable•Experience in both corporate and manufacturing plant positions•Chemical industry experience and operations experience a real plus•Working knowledge of relevant regulatory guidelines (DOT, HAZMAT, EPA)•Professional certification a plus (CPM, APICS)
Skill Requirements:
•Seven to ten years sourcing and purchasing experience with min. 3 years in managerial role•Strong background in Sourcing processes and technology (RFP/RFQ, E-procurement, contract management)•Strong supplier relationship management experience (supplier selection, development and performance management)•Ability to effectively engage influence and support diverse internal customers including marketing, sales, operations, distribution and company leadership.•Demonstrated expertise in supporting new product development and introduction•Superior negotiation and decision making skills; Proven analytical and problem solving ability•Strong project management skills; Ability to lead and work with cross functional teams; Excellent written and verbal communication skills•Ability to coach, motivate others and encourage personal development•Proficient in desktop applications including Microsoft office and purchasing information
