Shop Manager – Purchasing Agent

Summary

Mid-size union electrical contractor seeks self-starter to fill key position with multiple areas of responsibility. Due to the nature of our work and our company size, we are seeking an individual capable of overseeing and facilitating the following: (1) purchasing & returns, (2) management of tools/equipment/PPE, (3) logistics, and (4) facility maintenance (warehouse/office).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Purchasing/Returns: Procure supplies, services & equipment. Negotiate competitive pricing and follow-up on back orders and long lead items. Work to return unused material to suppliers for credit as soon as possible. Review RMA requests weekly to ensure timely credit is received.

Tools/Equipment/PPE: Maintain tool/equipment/PPE inventory. Prepare and circulate tool report weekly. Keep record of lost/stolen/damaged tools & equipment. Responsible for examining (or overseeing others who examine) tools/equipment/PPE for damage, wear & tear, missing parts, etc. Create & maintain maintenance log (utilizing computer software if necessary). Responsible for tools/equipment/PPE being clean and visibly labeled with company logo and identification number.

Logistics: Oversee driver and warehouse assistant (at this time it is (1) driver, and (1) warehouse assistant). Coordinate deliveries & pick-ups of tools, materials, prints, and other items related to the contracting industry. Receives shipments – rejects damaged, check quantities, and tags incoming for storage, shipping, maintenance, etc. Looks for alternative shipping methods when time or cost becomes an issue. Ensure communication systems (Nextel radios, walkie-talkies, and fax machines) are maintained.

Facility: Oversees the facility and ensures that the warehouse is clean and organized. Responsible for coordinating repairs of lighting/plumbing/HVAC/doors etc. Coordinates early starts for snow removal. Ensures restroom and kitchen consumables are fully stocked.
REQUIREMENTS
Skills necessary:

Successful candidate must be a self starter with management skills related to scheduling, written & oral communications, and leadership.

Candidate must already be computer literate in: MS Windows, MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook), and Adobe Acrobat. Must be willing to evaluate new software & technology solutions and also must be open to continuing education as well as learning and implementing new solutions.
