Our Investment Bank is one of the world’s top global investment banking and securities firms, providing a full spectrum of products to institutional and corporate clients, intermediaries, government and hedge funds worldwide.UBS Investment Bank Credit Risk Control (CRC) department is responsible for controlling the exposure that UBS has to its counterparts. CRC has a number of initiatives in progress to continually improve financial exposure measurement and control processes and must also respond to New Business Initiatives driven by other functions within the firm. These encompass short-term (few months) projects and long-term (several years) programmes designed to address the demanding requirements of a dynamic financial institution.The UBS Investment Bank based in Stamford, CT is seeking a Project Manager to join the Enterprise IT / IT Risk Management team. The Project Manager to take responsibility for the CTB-M (Change The Bank) portfolio of change and our Front Office revenue-generating businesses (i.e. Fixed Income, FXCCT and Equities) related IT Projects. Current initiatives include Emerging Markets (e.g. China, India), new products (e.g. Base Metal trading) and new services (e.g. Hedge Funds and Prime Brokerage). This is a broad, challenging role that requires a combination of business awareness, product knowledge and technical know-how coupled with strong client-facing and interpersonal skills.Responsibilities will include: Representing Credit Risk IT at Operating Committee meetings. Planning and coordinating all Change activity across some 33 systems within the Credit Risk IT portfolio. Liaising with the in-house and outsource development teams to schedule changes. Identifying the need for increased resourcing in advance and organising this in time for changes. Assuming full ownership of CTB-M activity, taking accountability and responsibility for realising the business benefits. Forming excellent working relationships with all involved teams at various levels of seniority. Representing the Change Portfolio at relevant governance committees. Establish and maintain Project Plans and contribute to all status reporting requirements. Ensure resourcing across teams is organised in time to achieve the delivery schedule. Organize and hold relevant project meetings to maintain co-ordination between groups. Identify Dependencies, Risks, Issues and implement mitigating steps to minimize their impacts on plans. Comply with the UBS Project Lifecycle and Project Excellence Program requirements Managing the project finances where appropriate.To be effective in this role the candidate must: Have worked in a Financial Institution/Investment Banking environment and must have familiarity with the process of Change Management. Have 5+ years experience of managing business change projects involving system development solutions across a distributed systems infrastructure. Have experience of working successfully with outsourced parties. Be driven to achieve deadlines to realize the business benefits associated with IT projects as early as possible. Have proven interpersonal skills to establish excellent working relationships with a wide variety of people. Have excellent communication skills to ensure relevant information about the changes flows to the right recipients. Be fully conversant with a range of systems development methodologies and the advantages/disadvantages of each. Be structured, systematic and analytical in their approach. Had experience of requirements gathering and specification writing as a Business Systems Analyst. Ideally have had some career experience as a Software Developer, specifically in Object-Orientation; Java or C++; Unix; and Relational Databases technologies;The successful candidate will also participate with other Project Management groups providing good opportunities to work with other Project Managers and enhance knowledge of UBS practices.Preferred Qualifications:Prior experience in an IT PM capacity preferably in the Financial Services Arena. A PMP Certification is a decisive asset. Knowledge of investment banking or finance sector. Have appropriate business experience, ideally in a Credit Risk function or alternatively in another Control function such as Finance. Excellent Project Management skills gained from managing complex projects from initiation through to delivery. Knowledge of a broad range of Financial products and processes. Demonstrable experience as part of a major quality initiative to improve data and processes. A career background from a Big 4 Management Consultancy background and able to apply methodology and best practice gained from this role is a plus.
