Project Manager

Company: North America Mining Job Function: Management Job Description: Major Responsibilities Under general supervision, provides technical expertise, guidance and leadership in engineering project management. Responsible for coordinating and leading Life Cycle Initiative Team with site personnel and applicable outside consultants to develop life of mine (LOM) closure plans at Phelps Dodge sites.
Plans, reviews and analyzes project requirements to establish tasks and subtasks and project timelines. Safely executes tasks and reports to management regarding project status.

Assembles and supervises project staff and outside services/expertise as needed. Communicates and coordinates activities and tasks with site personnel. Responsible for “customer satisfaction” associated with a project.

Serves as technical expert on project management issues.

Evaluates and administers contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment.

Maintains current working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local regulations. Provides guidance and counsel to site management team on applicable programs, practices and existing/proposed local, state and federal regulations.

Contributes to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for project management.

May represent the site on company-sponsored steering teams.

Performs other duties as required.Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or closely related area.

Seven (7) years engineering experience in an area or areas relevant to assignment, including supervisory or lead experience as well as prior project management experience.

Knowledge of project management techniques and practices.

Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Experience in environmental permitting and NEPA process preferred.Preferred Qualifications -Advanced degree or Professional Engineering Certification.~cb~
