Product Manager, SEO – Advanced Solutions

•Develop, socialize, and drive AutoTrader.com’s Search Engine Optimization Strategy
oResponsible for maintaining a current understanding of SEO best practices
•Actively pursue an understanding of the needs of AutoTrader.com shoppers and customers, and utilize this understanding to determine opportunities for fresh content that adds value to both the shopper experience and search engine rankings
•Prioritize all SEO opportunities based on greatest impact to traffic
•Analyze effects of SEO-related changes
oTranslate and communicate those effects to the organization
•Active participant in AutoTrader.com Vision and associated strategic initiatives
•Active consultant at the initiative level, representing Advanced Solutions
•Manage relationships with SEO subject matter experts throughout the organization, as well as outside firms aiding in SEO efforts

Customer Focus

The SEO Product Manager will drive the organization to ensure that the site is continually optimized for search engines. This includes driving the strategy to ensure AutoTrader.com content is consistently updated and relevant to drive linking, therefore increasing search engine rankings.

Strategy

The Advanced Solutions Product Manager will play a leadership role in facilitating the activities necessary to develop and communicate the AutoTrader.com Search Engine Optimization Strategy. Scheduling input and edgework sessions, research/documentation, and continuing maintenance of this strategy through the year will be key roles. Additionally, this position will play a role in scheduling, preparing for, and executing monthly SEO Stakeholder Briefings.

Execution

The SEO Product Manager will also work closely with IT architects and Experience Design/Consumer Experience to manage technical optimization efforts as well as content evolution. Prioritization of possible optimizations against finite resources will be key. Additionally, they will act as a consultant on specific initiatives to ensure additions to the site are made with optimization in mind. Initially, the SEO Product Manager will look for opportunities to optimize the site as part of in-flight initiatives, followed by a focus on ongoing optimization.

Leadership

The Advanced Solutions Product Manager will serve as a visible subject matter expert and knowledge leader in Search Engine Optimization best practices. This person will provide recommendations on initiatives, engage in presentations to executives and other key stakeholders, and be responsible for spreading ideas throughout the organization. Travel to conferences, seminars, Marketing/XDP studies, etc will be necessary. Strong written and verbal communication skills to varying sizes/types of audiences are an absolute key to success.
REQUIREMENTS
-5 Years in the Interactive Industry with SEO focus
-Undergraduate degree required
-Understanding of interactive marketing, with a focus in Automotive a plus
-A proven track record of creative thinking with at least a basic understanding of design principles
-A history of developing and managing strategic plans to excellent results
-Experience managing both intra-departmental and external relationships successfully
-Vendor analysis and management
-Strong analysis skills, and the ability to turn search engine ranking data into actionable information, understandable across the organization
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Strong background in developing and giving presentations to a variety of audience types and sizes
-Understanding of the latest technologies and concepts, such as ‘Web 2.0’, media convergence, user-generated media, and the effect these concepts have on search engine rankings
-A proven track record of passionate pursuit of meeting shopper needs
-Proficiency with Windows applications including PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel, MS Project
