Operations Manager, Defense Data Center

The Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS) is a fully configurable security and identification solution utilized throughout the DoD that allows for accurate identification and access control through use of a centralized biometric information database. We are currently searching for an Operations Manager for the Defense Manpower Data Center’s (DMDC) Identity Authentication Office (IAO) and Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS) Operations Team. This person will be located in Seaside, CA.Responsibilities:
The Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring deployed DBIDS infrastructure operates effectively and efficiently; issuing Action Items to coordinate the activities of other contractors: hardware, helpdesk, and training; providing hardware-related planning and execution assistance in support of specific operations as they arise; and, recommending operational and/or reporting improvements as needed. Additional responsibilities include:

Equipment Orders: Coordination of the hardware/software orders and configuration management review (tracking of the equipment serial numbers, etc.).
Â
Equipment Installations: Provide support for installation efforts. Review and update equipment installation schedules. Approve installer travel requests as needed to support installation schedules. Review monthly travel invoices for accuracy.

Maintenance: Review maintenance reports as they are submitted by the hardware and software contractors. Provide troubleshooting assistance and make recommendations for improved customer service where appropriate.

Replacement Parts Support / Site Maintenance: Initiate and approve the replacement of hardware components. Approve site relo.Requirements:

4+ years of technical experience in logistics, operations, or hardware/software support position
Â
Technical aptitude to quickly become familiar with DBIDS hardware/software and other DMDC technical solutions
Â
2+ years of experience requiring regular customer/user interface
Â
Undergraduate degree
Â
U.S. citizenship
Â
Must obtain favorable results from a National Agency Check (NAC)Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent ability to interacting with users/sites on a daily basis.
Â
Excellent communications skills and attention to detail are essential.

Prior military (Active, Reserve, Guard)
Â
An existing DoD clearance is beneficial
