DESCRIPTION: Full-time 40+ hours, Monday to Friday, 8 am-5 pm.The medical director is responsible for the assessment, preservation, and improvement of the health of workers, as it relates to their job, through the detection, treatment, and prevention of work-related illness and injury, and the rehabilitation of employees with post occupational injury or illness disability. The medical director will initiate, develop, and implement all occupational medicine programs for employees at outside contracts with business and industry. The medical director will supervise, plan and implement a comprehensive clinically based occupational medicine program which incorporates components related to employee health; occupational medicine and wellness; and will serve as consultant to those individuals who are responsible for rehabilitation; work hardening; and ensure workplace safety of hospital personnel, uphold OSHA and JCAHO standards, medical monitoring, workplace hazard analysis, and refine policies, procedures. The Medical Director is responsible for the medical component of workers compensation, and interacts regularly with the hospital's Workers' Compensation Insurance Carrier in medically managing claims.
REQUIREMENTS
Education: Medical degree. Meets qualifications of the hospital's Credentials Committee. Board eligible or certified in Occupational and Environmental Medicine.Experience: Previous experience preferred, preferably industrial. Member of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. Hands-on clinical experience providing direct patient care.Licensure: Current license to practice medicine in the State of Connecticut. Meets qualifications of the hospital's Credentials Committee.Skills: Extensive knowledge of OSHA standards and NFPA guidelines needed. Interpersonal, supervisory needed to work with department and hospital administrative and medical staff.
