Manager of Volunteer Services

The Manager of Volunteer Services is responsible for the direction and coordination of activities of the Provena Mercy Medical Center's Volunteer Services program and marketing of the volunteer program internally as well as externally in the community. The manager will develop and implement volunteer services programs to meet the identified needs of Provena Mercy Medical Center's internal and external departments consistent with the strategic plan. The manager will administer the volunteer services program to augment the services of regular hospital staff, ensuring adequate staff of trained volunteers to meet the needs of the hospital department requests for assistance. The gift shop coordinator reports to the Manager of Volunteer Services.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.§ Provides direction and guidance to the volunteer department staff in monitoring the department's activities and takes appropriate action as necessary to ensure efficient and effective operation. This will include personnel and disciplinary activities.§ Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure efficient functioning of the department.§ Supervises and directs volunteers & staff to achieve and maintain a high level of motivation, dedication, and professionalism.§ Oversees the functions of volunteer recruitment, volunteer program visibility and awareness in the interviewing, selection, placement and training activities.§ Promotes visibility of Volunteer Services program throughout hospital and community.§ Manages the Gift Shop Coordinator.



Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training all employees/volunteers; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees/volunteers; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Also supervises the gift shop coordinator.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, plus volunteer leadership experience. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and motivational skills. Bi-lingual skills a plus. Certificate in Volunteer Management program a plus.

Computer Skills
