General Management Development Program

Schwan’s Home Service, Inc. (Schwan’s) is the largest direct-to-home frozen food delivery company in the world. The food industry is changing rapidly and Schwan recognizes the significant role leadership will play in providing a competitive edge. We are seeking experienced highly motivated sales and operations management professionals to join our General Management Development Program. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience along with 5 to 7 years’ related job experience.

The General Management Development Program (GMDP) is a 16-week management program leveraging your current business experience into a new Schwan Location General Manager. This program includes four weeks of classroom training interspersed with ten weeks of field training, and two weeks of Corporate training. Trained Schwan’s Location General Manager mentors are responsible for providing the field training, while most of the classroom experiences are led by Schwan’s University learning and development instructors. During the GMDP program you will see and learn about every aspect of the job up-close with a “Built 2 Manage” training concept. Upon your successful completion of the GMDP 16-week development program, you will be placed at a Schwan depot location as a Location General Manager. The ability to RELOCATE is required for this position.

GENERAL PURPOSE
This position is responsible for the sales and distribution of frozen food products within an assigned territory.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales of approximately $2 to $6 million per year determined by an annual budgeting process
Assure a team of Customer Service Managers maintain a system of routes that provide for regular servicing at residential homes or places of business to sell a large variety of frozen food products
Responsible for all customer interactions, including developing new customer, customer complaints, customer sequencing
Supervises a Facility Supervisor who is responsible for a depot and truck maintenance, product inventory control, inspections, safety compliance, material handling and efficiency of the warehouse operations
Selects, develops and motivates a sales and operations staff to meet plan
Monitors growth of sales and profit, maintains data and documentation essential to the operation of assigned sales company including implementation of cost control measures and maintenance of company assets
Implements and maintains all governmental and corporate programs and policies within the location

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Years of Related Experience: 5-7 years related experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Basic PC skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. Proven sales and distribution management expertise in related industry. Solid communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated management and supervisory skills. Excellent driving record. Effective budget management.
Thorough knowledge of company and group products, polices, processes, etc.
Must meet the Federal Department of Transportation eligibility requirements, including appropriate driver's license and corresponding medical certification as a condition of employment for this position.
