Director of Visual Merchandising

The Director of Visual Merchandising directs and develops the overall strategy for PetSmart’s visual merchandising function and its implementation, resulting in optimal margins and sales through efficient space usage and appealing store layouts. Collaborates with the merchandising groups to develop strategy ensuring products are displayed appropriately (location, appearance, structure, brand theme, modular fit, etc). Develops strategies to optimize space usage to be implemented by the space planning group. Works closely with cross-departmental heads to identify opportunities, create, and implement solutions in regards to product presentation and space usage. Establishes and maintains space planning guidelines, from store layouts to product placement, to create a better presentation, enhancing the customer experience and improving sales. Sets strategy and provides guidance for proper sign usage and display set-ups ensuring efficiency and company standards are met. Ensures the proper information sharing between the other merchandising departments to test the appropriateness of the current visual aspects and space usage, and to prepare for future product changes / additions from a visual and space planning aspect.

REQUIREMENTS
Requirements include a Masters degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Merchandise Management, or Operations Research and six to eight years of related experience in business modeling and management; Retail experience required.
