FTI, a global leader in providing critical solutions to corporations, the legal community, and the financial sector is seeking a Director of Investigative Research for its Chicago office in FTI’s global risk and investigations practice.
This practice focuses on (a) corporate internal investigations, involving allegations of fraud, misappropriation of assets, theft of trade secrets, corporate corruption, and other internal de-stabilizing events, (b) business intelligence, including pre-transactional due diligence for the financial sector, competitive assessments, and hostile takeover defense and dissident shareholder investigations, and (c) dispute-related investigations, including asset investigations and specialized fact-finding before and during litigation and arbitration proceedings. This position provides the opportunity to work on extremely challenging investigations, requiring tremendous analytical skills, creativity, judgment, and ethics.

In this role you will be performing the following duties on a day to day basis:
Identify and assist in hiring senior and junior investigative research analysts.
Manage day to day activities of investigative analyst group and outside investigative consultants as needed.
Continuously identify new on-line and public records information sources.
Further develop and maintain global network of investigative consultants and sources.
Deliver needs assessments, research, and investigative strategies to clients.
Conduct investigative research relating to due diligence and fraud investigations, business intelligence gathering, asset searches, political risk analyses and litigation support.
Conduct and manage on-site public records research and analysis.
Distill information and identify key findings from research and analysis.
Draft and finalize detailed reports, memoranda and investigative reports.
Manage case economics and administration.
Travel up to 25% nationally on project work as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Public Affairs, Political Science, Library Science, or related discipline preferred.
Have at least five years of progressive experience in conducting investigations, investigative research, and managing teams of investigative researchers.
Demonstrated ability to assemble and manage on-line and other information resources.
Extensive familiarity and experience with full spectrum of on-line and public record resources.
Experience with gathering and analyzing public record documents, such as litigation and property records, regulatory filings, and judgments and liens.
Demonstrated ability to synthesize information, identify key findings and determine conclusions.
Demonstrated strong writing skills.
Proficiency with PC and networked environments, including MS Office.
