CHRYSALIS POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Crisis Shelter Director

Qualifications: ·Master’s Degree in a Human Services related field with Arizona State License
·Knowledge of domestic violence and women’s issues
·Demonstrated management and supervisory experience, preference given to previous shelter administration
·Excellent organizational and communication skills
·Ability to develop and maintain positive professional relationships with staff, clients, volunteers, board of directors, and community agencies
·Ability to handle crisis situations

Responsibilities:·Report to the Executive Director
·Supervise all shelter staff
·Monitor contracts and licensure for compliance
·Ensure that the shelter facility is in compliance with sanitation requirements
·Assist with the development and implementation of agency policies
·Maintain a monthly staff schedule to ensure adequate shift coverage
·Balance shelter petty cash and residential fees accounts
·Complete payroll paperwork and turn in all staff time sheets bi-monthly
·Participate in scheduled supervision meetings with the Executive Director
·Submit all reports and paperwork in a timely manner to ensure that residential programs are efficient, effective, and in compliance with funding agencies’ reporting requirements
·Recruit and hire new employees for shelter operation
·Provide initial orientation and processing of new shelter employees
·Maintain personnel files on site with all required documentation
·Facilitate weekly clinical staffing meetings of shelter resident’s files
·Address groups on issues of domestic violence when requested
·Act as an advocate for clients, assign staff as counselor/case managers
·Monitor client files·Monitor food program with House Coordinator
·Order all office supplies·Participate in at least one fund raising effort each year
·Maintain current CPR, First Aid Certification, and TB testing
·Perform additional duties as required by supervisor

Chrysalis is currently searching for a Crisis Shelter Director who is experienced, dependable, and conscientious for our shelter located in Phoenix. This position is without a doubt critical to our endeavors to break the cycle of abuse.The ideal candidate has a Master’s Degree in a Human Services related field with an Arizona State Independent License. She/he is self-motivated; has extensive management and supervisory experience, preferably in a crisis shelter environment; well organized; and has the ability to work in a high-pressure environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. Naturally, effective verbal and written communication skills are a must as is public speaking and presentation experience.
