Department ManagerObjective
Responsible for overseeing sales, customer service, merchandise stocking and presentation, and operational functions in a department or a group of departments within a store. Requires strong leadership skills to train, supervise and lead associates. Focus on driving sales through training, customer service and merchandise presentation.Primary Job Functions Customer Service and Sales

Ensure sales are the priority in the department and customers are attended to.
Accountable for increasing sales, units per transaction and transactions size in the department(s).
Provide customers with highest level of customer service, emphasizing courteous and knowledgeable assistance to each and every customer.
Ensure merchandise is sold at company established prices and discrepancies are addressed and authorized accordingly.
Model customer service for associates and promote sales whenever interacting with associates and customers.
Walk the floor regularly to manage the floor for daily “Manager On Duty” responsibilities.
Communicate with associates regarding pertinent information for daily, event or seasonal business issues.
Maintain Company dress code for all associates.Merchandising/Inventory Control

Oversee the maintenance of floor standards to ensure customer satisfaction.
Monitor merchandise quantity levels on the sales floor at all times.
Ensure associates accurately stock shipments and handle merchandise according to guidelines.
Track the placement and signage of ad goods.
Ensure corporate merchandise plans are executed. Make appropriate adjustments to the plan based on store/department layout and inventory availability.
Verify pricing in store (i.e. weights and measures issues).Training and Developing Staff

Ensure compliance in and the execution of Company sponsored training programs including Stop, Serve and Sell; Learning Management System (LMS); and Customer Experience Index (CEI).
Recruits, interviews and involved in final selection of all department associates.
Monitor associates’ sales and merchandising techniques.
Create new hire’s training schedule; follows Training Checklist with all new hires in department.
Ensure Leads are trained to execute all responsibilities listed for a Department Manager.
Address any employee complaints, grievances and questions as they arise.
Complete yearly performance evaluations for department associates; make promotional and merit increase recommendations based on performance.Operations Management

Participate in the “Manager on Duty” Program, which requires complete understanding of all store procedures.
Schedule staff efficiently to maximize sales opportunities & make adjustments to schedule, as business needs dictate.
Execute disciplinary procedures fairly and document corrective action properly.
Set goals and conduct regular department meetings to review sales goals and targets.
Complete Department Performance Summary to track the sales performance of staff and department.
Responsible for Store Operational Audit compliance.
Responsible for other duties as assigned or developed.Key Carrying Qualifications

The Lead, Sales will report directly to the Manager, Department.
REQUIREMENTS
Prerequisite skills/experience for position
2-5 years experience in a retail environment or equivalent relevant experience. Previous management experience preferred.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, and sound judgment.
Strong attention to customer service issues.
Prior merchandising and planning responsibility necessary.
Detail oriented and strong attention to customer service.
Ability to merchandise and execute company standards successfully.
Computer skills a plus.
Ability/flexibility to work any store open hours.
Must have knowledge of local competitive environment.
College degree in business, fashion merchandise or marketing preferred.
Understand and facilitate Standard Operating Procedures for area.
Complete understanding of audit procedures for area.
