Position Summary: Reporting to the General Manager, you'll have charge of operating accounting, key financial processes, and maintaining financial records. Examples include: month-end close, accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, reconciliations, and daily revenue postings.
This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in staff accounting roles to increase their levels of responsibility, and hire-develop a small Accounting staff.
Key Responsibilities:Monthly financial reporting and forecastingKey contributor towards annual budget preparationAccounts Payable: invoice prep and batching, approval process, record retention, expense accrualAccounts Receivable: monitor A/R balances, post payments, supports collectionGeneral Ledger: Monthly closing and reporting, G/L account reconciliation, daily sales posting and reportingCash management: daily cash and credit card transaction processingStrong working relationships with all internal departments on accounting and projectsSelected contacts with credit card merchants and bankersWork directly with operations in both UK and South Africa, and develop forecasts in multiple currenciesVarious special projects
REQUIREMENTS
BA or BS in accounting strongly preferred6-10+ years accounting experience (month-end close, account analysis, sales reporting, accounts receivable, general ledger accounting, budgeting, forecasting)CPA desired but not requiredQuickBooks experience required, experience in other financial software (e.g. Oracle, Great Plains) desiredHands-on professional who thrives without close supervisionDemonstrated success within a team environment, and ability to meet/exceed deadlinesKaplan's global success is highlighted by growth from $100mm USD to $1.4b USD in just 12 years.
