Technical Writer

Volt is seeking a technical writer to work with a large online travel company located in Bellevue, WA. The company provides direct access to one of the broadest selections of travel products and services.
This person will be responsible for documenting existing data systems for an internal audience and will write, edit and organize content and Visio diagrams to ensure that documents can easily be found and accessed via internal Web sites, wiki, and document shares.
Projects include:

Lodging data system context diagrams (Inventory, shopping, booking, etc. including LIM, LIRO, LDC, ARI, LodgingBooking, Polaris, FDS)

DB Merge Management process documentation

Cars data system context diagrams (Inventory, shopping, booking, etc. including CarsInventory, CarsBooking)

PII encryption data system context diagrams

Customer authentication & registration

Coupons processing


Requirements:

- Excellent writing skills including at least two years of technical writing experience.

Writing samples that demonstrate experience documenting for a technical audience, preferably including flowcharts and diagrams.

Experience with Visio to document database systems in particular.

Experience using wiki's.

Coding experience with HTML or XML.

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

Knowledge of databases in general and SQL specifically.

Aptitude for learning new technology quickly.

Ability to quickly read and understand code written by other people.

Experience using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Visio.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work well with technical people such as developers.

Excellent organizational skills.

Ability to work on several projects at once.

Ability to drive a project to completion, including creating a schedule, gathering information from subject-matter experts, and meeting deadlines.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
