DLA Piper, a Leading Business Law Firm, is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to work our evening shift who under varying degrees of supervision commensurate with years of experience, provides secretarial assistance and participates in special projects as assigned by Human Resources Generalist.Job Responsibilities' Interact with and develop rapport with internal support staff in an effective, efficient, and professional manner at all times.
' Demonstrate team approach with peers.
' Ability to demonstrate follow-through on all assignments.
' Possess advanced computer skills and ability to learn new processes quickly and efficiently.
' Demonstrate ability to effectively use firm communication technology (email and voice mail), and use of organizational abilities in Outlook.
' Prepare and distribute correspondence and other documents in an efficient manner which presents an excellent work product (proofreading, formatting) with the ability to provide support and suggestions relative to grammar, spelling, and punctuation.' Ability to handle confidential and non-routine information in a professional and trustworthy manner.
' Manage telephone responsibilities in a professional manner with the ability to take effective messages and provide assurance to the caller.
' Ability to take initiative and prioritize, as needed.
' Ability to transcribe documents from tape.
' Enter daily time entry in an efficient and organized manner.
' Manage projects such as document preparation and distribution with the ability to use firm resources (i.e., CBF, fax center, copy center, etc.) to delegate tasks in the successful completion of such projects.
' Ability to fax, photocopy and run mail postage machine after hours.
' Ability to prepare transmittal letters, as requested.' Ability to multi-task on a continuing basis, making use of firm resources.
' Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, good judgment, tact, personal integrity, poise, and ability to manage high pressure times.
' Other administrative tasks as assigned by responsible lawyers, paralegals, or Human Resources Generalist.
' Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to firm policies and procedures, and be able to communicate same to others, as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of legal terminology.
Typing speed of 70 wpm.
Flexible work hours; overtime may be occasionally required.
Ability to effectively use office equipment.
Excellent computer skills, with advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of document formatting and styles for a variety of legal forms.
Knowledge and ability to learn new office support systems and processes.
Ability to remain flexible and manage changing priorities on a continuing basis.
Ability to effectively use office support resources.
High School Education, or equivalent.
