Digidesign, a division of Avid Technology, Inc. and the leading innovator in the professional audio industry, is looking for a highly motivated and personable attorney to join its growing, collegial legal department. The open position is for a licensing and general business attorney to handle contract negotiation, M&A, outsourcing, distribution, marketing, employment, and other day-to-day legal issues arising within the Company. The attorney will also be called upon to act supervise outside counsel, as required, to obtain legal opinions or handle claims and litigation.
REQUIREMENTS
Essential experience required: minimum of 7 to 10 years legal experience at a technology company or law firm, with familiarity with M&A, licensing, intellectual property and other matters arising in a high-tech environment. Must have a J.D. degree and be a member of the State Bar of California or of another state.
Other experience preferred: general Asia Pacific experience (especially in the area of contract manufacturing), antitrust, and employment law. Familiarity with licensing of audio technology and/or consumer electronics and professional products is a distinct plus.
The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, exceptional writing and organizational skills and the ability to self-motivate and work independently. The successful candidate will also have the ability to work collaboratively with senior managers and across various departments within the Company.
This position reports to the General Counsel of Digidesign and entails legal support of both Digidesign and its M-Audio business unit. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
