LEGAL Staff Attorney The City of Colorado Springs (2 positions available) These attorneys will be a part of a team in the Colorado Springs City Attorney's Office. One will handle general civil litigation for the City and all of its enterprises; the other will handle worker's compensation and subrogation matters for the City and its Utilities. Attorneys are expected to assist on related legal matters for other divisions of the City Attorney's Office when necessary. The attorneys' duties include issuing legal opinions, litigating matters related to the assigned subject area, providing legal support on regulatory and compliance issues, providing formal and informal legal advice to other City departments, responding to requests for public records, and communicating with the public. Staff Attorneys must be able to analyze, interpret and apply legal principles, facts, evidence and legal precedent. They possess superior oral and written communication skills, interpersonal and collaboration skills and the ability to work as a successful member of a team of attorneys representing the City in all its functions. These positions require a J.D. or L.L.B. from an ABA-accredited law school ranking in at least the upper one-half of their law school class; a minimum of two years related experience; admission to the Colorado Bar. Superior research, writing, academic and oral and written communication skills are also required.
