Intake Family Specialist

AASK is seeking an Intake Family Specialist to conduct initial intake assessments, and who may complete initial home study evaluations for families who wish to provide foster care to and/or adopt children with special needs. AASK is a non-profit organization licensed through the State of Arizona. AASK's mission is building and strengthening families through foster care and adoption. The AASK foster care and adoption programs provide families multiple opportunities to make a significant difference in the lives of children who have come into Arizona's foster care system as a result of abuse, neglect and abandonment. Established in 1988, AASK has a strong history and places more children into Maricopa County homes annually than nearly all other agencies combined. (Please visit our website at aask-az.org for more information about AASK.) AASK Intake Family Specialists work closely with prospective families. The Intake Family Specialist works with the family from the point of intake in a mutual assessment process to help the family assess their own skills and readiness to parent special needs children. The Intake Family Specialist conducts visits in the family home for the purpose of initial assessment and may do so for the purpose of writing a home study detailing the family's history and strengths. The Intake Family Specialist tracks the family’s progress in the data base as well as setting up and maintaining a family file.
REQUIREMENTS
Candidates for this position must have a Bachelor's in Social Work or related field. Candidates for this position must have strong assessment and writing skills. Must be able to interact with people and make recommendations regarding the family’s appropriateness for the program. Services are provided primarily in family homes, so candidates must have reliable transportation that enables them to travel to family homes located throughout the Valley as needed. The successful candidate will have the ability to work in an environment characterized by growth and change.
