JOB TITLE: Assistant Grants Writer

DEPARTMENT: Administration

STATUS: Permanent Employee/Non-Exempt

Assistant Grant Writer:

Assist the CEO and senior staff by:

Maintaining schedule of regular grant application deadlines and requirements.

Maintaining grant files of submissions, required documentation, letters of support, responses and evaluations of proposals.

Developing and ensuring the timely submission of renewal proposals for existing proposals with updated information, budgets, and required documentation.

Identifying and screening eligibility for potential funding sources for existing programs.

Acquiring information from program staff, developing draft narratives and budgets for submission to private and public sources.

Ensuring full compliance of all proposals with grantor requirements as to content, format, and documentation.

Tracking and maintaining demographic information on service area using census, research data, and other databases.

Developing and incorporating outcome measurement standards, evaluation processes, and reporting into all grant proposals.

Creating and adjusting draft budgets from program staff information and general ledger information.

Writing, obtaining reviews, and submitting letters of intent for grant funds.

Attending meetings with funding agencies as assigned.

Guiding and orienting funding-related visitors or monitors at Project Vida as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma. Some college helpful.

EXCELLENT English language usage and writing skills.

Experience in use of Microsoft Word, Excel.

Ability to work well under deadlines.

- Valid U.S. Driver’s License required.

- Use of privately owned vehicle may be required to carry out job duties. The vehicle and driver must carry basic liability insurance as required by state law.

- Out-of-town travel to attend training seminars may be required.

-Grant writing and program design, implementation and evaluation skills preferred.

- Excellent organizational skills coupled with writing, public speaking and teaching skills.

- Culturally sensitive.

- Bilingual ability English/Spanish required.


- Lifting: 25 lbs.+ to lift/move/carry office supplies, files and equipment. A hand dolly will be made available if required.

- Agility: Required to use fine manipulation in dialing and answering telephones, light typing and calculator use and filing.

- Vision: Required to see all forms. Use of automobile and light travel may be required.

- Hearing: Must use auditory senses for answering telephones and to converse with clients and coworkers.

- Reading: Required to read and understand all written materials applicable to the position and job duties.

- Writing: Required to write legibly all applicable materials necessary to the position and job duties. Heavy documentation/record-keeping is mandatory.

- Speaking: Required to communicate clearly all information to clients, co-workers via telephone and person-to-person.
