Job Title: Production Planner
Location: Eastern Iowa

PURPOSE AND KEY RESULTS OF THE POSITION:
This position is responsible for purchasing materials, planning production schedules and deploying product to meet customer service targets for the business unit's products at the plant.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
-> Construct daily and weekly schedules from sales forecasts, using the statistical "order up to" methodology to optimize production efficiencies while meeting Product Availability, Order Fill Rate and Inventory targets.
-> Use Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) to purchase raw materials for production schedules and to dispose of substandard materials. Develop strong supplier relationships.
-> Coordinate between processing, packaging and shipping operations to provide each distribution center with the right product in a timely manner and at the least possible cost.
-> Use MMS (Materials Management System), WMS (Warehouse Management System),the SCR System and IPP (Inventory Production Planning System) to ensure materials are available for production, that production is timely and product is available to meet the customers' needs. Develop strong customer relationships.
-> Communicate with the Supply Chain and Asset Managers, Purchasing, Marketing , Distribution Center personnel, and Sales to keep abreast of deals, promotional activity and special projects. Coordinate the plant team to accomplish these activities.
-> Use transportation and logistics knowledge to minimize costs associated with inbound materials and outbound finished product.
-> Understand production capacity constraints and be able to project when leveling of product should occur because of these constraints. Communicate and coordinate all leveling of product.
-> Meet target levels for package material and ingredient inventory turns and minimize outside warehousing of inbound materials.
-> Make decisions regarding production changes, abnormal product moves and movement of customer orders to minimize product cuts.

Job Requirements: SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
-> College graduate in a related field or equivalent experience.
-> Supply chain experience in planning, purchasing or distribution of product.
-> Excellent oral communication skills (to all levels). Able to lead a team through a problem solving session.
-> Comfortable presenting in front of small to medium sized groups.
-> Sound project management skills - effectively handle multiple tasks at a time, meeting all commitments.
-> Analytical skills are needed to analyze production capacity and cost impacts of different production options.
-> Need to be completely at ease using computers and specifically Excel and Word.
-> Able to function with a minimum amount of supervision.
-> Self starter.
