Materials Planner
SUMMARY The planner position’s accountability is planning, reviewing, and managing orders to assure the delivery of goods and services required to support operating, manufacturing, and customer needs. All activities must be completed as accurately as possible and in a timely manner to support department and business objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
Planned Order Review
Daily review of system created planned orders following the Planning process: Planned Orders, Reschedule, Firm Plan, Release, or Delete
Capacity plan due to shop constraints
Backorder Reporting
Respond to all requests of monthly Flash projections to report to Material Manager
New item set up
Support all new product releases by setting up part numbers and forecast
Reschedules
Respond to system generated reschedules
Forecast
Work with the Forecast Specialist and the Sales Department on program, promotion and daily business forecast activity.
Engineering Change Orders
Process all account based Engineering change orders
Cross Functional Team Activity
Support the cross-functional customer teams, by providing all material related updates.
Work with Master Scheduler on all manufactured shop floor demand
Sales / Marketing Contact
Provide an inside contact for all Sales and Marketing delivery information
Customer Delivery
Update all order promise dates and provides requested delivery information to the Customer Service department.
Assist with customer issues by providing a direct point of contact for customer issues and concerns.
Ensure quality in all goods and services manufactured, assembled, and distributed to internal and external customers through an approach of thorough planning, responsible implementation, and continuous improvement
Successful candidates will possess the following:KNOWLEDGE and CERTIFICATION:
Required:
?High school graduate or equivalent.
?Demonstrates understanding of manufacturing planning concepts, forecasting, and MRP.
?PC computing skills including spreadsheet and word processing software.
?Demonstrates experience in following up/expediting for needed actions, as well as relaying expected improvements in internal department and external communication.
?Knowledge of inventory management concepts and techniques including strong organization and planning skills.
Preferred:
?Understanding of BAAN a real plus.
?Two to Four years of related experience

?Demonstrates strong organizational skills, including follow up on his/her needed actions.
?Demonstrates strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
ABILITIES:
?Demonstrates ability to negotiate and arrive at creative win/win solutions.
?Demonstrates teamwork abilities, as well as persistence, when dealing with suppliers, and with internal departments, such as engineering, finance, sales and project management.
?Demonstrates ability to relate well to all levels of SPX employees, suppliers and customers.
