Direct Mail Merchandiser

As a Direct Mail Merchandiser, you will be responsible for the day to day merchandising performance of the Catalog product category. You will be responsible for compiling all relevant data for the Sr. Buyer and recommend changes and ways to increase the sales and profit results.


Responsibilities:

•Work together with other Merchandising and Marketing team members to select key items and develop a product assortment that utilizes historical performance and current business data

•Manage business by tracking and analyzing sales information in order to identify opportunities to increase sales, improve margins, maximize inventories and decrease markdowns

•Share customer and market perspective with the Sr. Buyer and stay current on market trends

•Develop compelling catalog product assortment based on:
-Current trends
-Historical best sellers
-Seasonality
-Price

•Maintain excellent In Stock performance by:
-Tracking and analyzing sales
-Identifying opportunities to increase sales and improve margins
-Excellent communication and collaboration with Marketing team

•Understand the target customer by tracking and experiencing customer lifestyle and selecting product that appeals to customer taste
-Research new vendor/product potential, negotiate terms to ensure profitability
-Create product SKU and product information to ensure the customer has available all and any information to make a knowledgeable purchasing decision

•Understand the competition:
-Shop and conduct regular comparisons of benchmark competitors
-Identify opportunities and challenges for current and future business
-Communicate competitive data to the organization to recommend “first in market” changes and ways to increase sales and profit results

•Collaborate with Marketing to ensure appropriate merchandising focus and successful product launch

•Maintain excellent communication with Operations to insure all department activities are thoroughly understood

•Understand and participate in company vision and core values

•Work together with other Merchandising Team Members to select key items and develop a plan that utilizes historical performance and current business data in maximizing sales and profits

•Manage business by tracking and analyzing sales information in order to identify opportunities to increase sales, improve margins, maximize inventories and decrease markdowns

REQUIREMENTS
•College degree in business, marketing or retailing with 3-5 years of buying experience

•Managing Assistant Buyers

•Market and trend knowledge with domestic and foreign buying skills

•OTB experience, merchandising systems and inventory procurement skills

•High integrity and support commitment to company core values and mission

•Outgoing people oriented and excellent communication skills with all levels

•Understand the brand

•Internet Retail and/or Catalog experience preferred
