Vertexer I

Under direct supervision, prepares claims for automated processing by verifying and inputting data from claim images. Text verification includes making all appropriate changes & corrections (per provider contract) to increase through put and to minimize pended claims.

1.Enters data from source documents complying with established individual form type production standards.2.Accurately enters data with minimum keystroke errors complying with established Unit quality standard.3.Apply procedures as outlined in the Vertex Exception Manual to include but not limited to Provider selection CPT and ICD9 coding4.Identifies incomplete, illegible or inappropriate claim information and rejects documents as needed.5.Maintains a measurable percentage of time on system or on special projects as assigned complying with established Unit standard.6.Performs all job functions with a high degree of discretion and confidentiality in compliance with federal, SHS and departmental confidentiality guidelines.
EXPERIENCE: One year medical or insurance office experience preferred.SKILLS: Basic math, data entry/computer input, 9,500 keystrokes with coding experience or 11,000 keystrokes without coding experience, 10-key by touch.KNOWLEDGE: Medical terminology, insurance and data entry/computer knowledge. Medical billing practices preferred, ICD-9 and CPT coding desirable. Must demonstrate knowledge of or ability to learn and apply to job functions those state and federal laws and regulations applicable to the operating unit.

High school diploma or equivalent.
