Position Title: Underwriting Specialist

Job Summary:
Under technical direction, underwrites and analyzes new and renewal Excess Casualty business. Administers and monitors underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating annual rules. Works writing significant limits and authority on assignments of higher technical complexity and coordination. May provide guidance to lower level associates. Markets companies' products and services through brokers for Manhattan, LI, Upstate NY, CT and NJ.

Job Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in Excess Casualty required. Excellent communication skills, strong negotiation skills, ability to effectively assess risk required. Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing, regulations and guidelines required. Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business also required. Must be able to multi-task and work in a high stress environment. Must be able to function effectively in team environment. College degree required.
