Position Title: Underwriting Quality Assurance Specialist

Travel Percentage: 26-50%

Job Summary:
Participate in/assist in facilitation of Baseline File Reviews (underwriting audits) for assigned Business Units, which will include conducting audit pre-work, underwriting file reviews, wrap-up meeting with auditees, reporting of audit issues and appropriate follow-up. Based upon review results and identified underwriting leakage, work with Corporate and Business Unit personnel to improve underwriting execution and where necessary underwriting best practices.

Develop a strong understanding of assigned Business Unit's underwriting practices, processes and audit activities as well as a strong working relationship with appropriate Business Unit personnel, which will foster the sharing of ideas and information. Ensure that the self-audit process, of assigned Business Units comply with the Corporate Self-audit Best Practices. Work assigned Business Units to track and successfully resolve significant underwriting audit issues. Assist in the completion of the quarterly Underwriting Management and Technical Services Audit Report.

Lead or assist with the completion of cross-Business Unit or Special Re quest audit projects (e.g. Managing General Agent or Program Administrator) and/or complex technical or long-term (over 6 months) business projects to implement new or changed underwriting policies and procedures.

Provide underwriting audit and management review support to the Line of Business Directors. Assist with the implementation of Line of Business specific improvement initiatives among all Business Units and then with the monitoring of the proper execution of implemented initiatives. Upon request, conduct Line of Business audits.

Job Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent

8 or more years of related experience.

1. Property/casualty underwriting experience.
2. Understanding of underwriting philosophy and techniques, risk selection, rating and pricing concepts and how these relate to profitability.
3. Knowledge about underwriting procedures and policy terms and conditions.
4. In-depth underwriting knowledge of lines of business.
5. Meeting/project facilitation skills.
6. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
7. Strong analytical skills.
8. Ability to multi-task, organizational skills.
9. Ability to think strategically.
10. Results-driven with a strong sense of urgency.
11. Ability to function in a team environment as well as independently.12. PC literate.
