Underwriting Manager

The Underwriting Manager effectively oversees the entire underwriting department to ensure quality in internal and external customer service and to ensure accuracy and minimization of risk to the company. The manager is responsible for adhering to published guidelines and policies; reviewing loan applications in a timely manner; managing employees; meeting production goals; and working with the management team to maximize the ability to make loans while minimizing risks.
REQUIREMENTS
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Supervises, trains, evaluates, consults and gives guidance for all underwriting employees to include reviewing and and making decisions regarding loan applications, quality internal customer service, and other duties as required for daily department operation. Ensures all staff is trained on published guidelines and policies.
The underwriting manager is responsible for meeting volume production goals and keeping current with applications received. This may include adjusting departmental hours to accommodate overflow. Underwriting Manager is responsible for producing monthly service level reports to senior management.

Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or high school diploma with five years experience as underwriting
Two years Underwriting Management experience. FHA/VA experience a plus.
Strong communications skills and ability to be flexible while being an efficient manager
