Provide communication and support to the Kidney Transplant Clinic by managing and monitoring insurance eligibility for patients. Obtain managed care referrals for office visits and verify appropriate eligibility for patients' insurance coverage for transplantation services prior to their office visits and surgical procedures. Accurate collection and reporting of insurance information as well as follow-up data relative to kidney transplant services will be essential.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:1.Manages financial information relative renal transplant patients:a)Provide communication and support to the Kidney Transplant Clinic in managing financial information flow for patients. Provide information to patients regarding available resources. Assist patients in facilitating the processing of applications for Medicare, free care, or special pharmacy benefits.b)Obtain managed care referrals for office visits and ensure appropriate eligibility. This
often requires providing insurance company with clinical records and communicating frequently with case managers to verify patients' insurance coverage for transplantation services prior to their office visit.c)Maintain Excel log of patients referred for evaluation and of transplant financial
clearance. Work closely with Renal Transplant secretaries and to verify clinical, fiscal information and dates of service. Monitor and report status of financial clearance process to renal transplant staff.d)Monitor and review transplant admission account to ensure that services are paid or reimbursed appropriately.e)Communicate names and dates of evaluation services of living donor candidates to appropriate hospital departments and continually communicate with hospital admitting department to ensure insurance clearance prior to surgery.h)Update recipient and donor fiscal registration and communicate with hospital registration
department on a regular basis to ensure information is maintained within the hospital based computer system.i)Update the global worksheet with all appropriate data to implement global contracts. Act as Take appropriate follow up action to resolve problems. Act as a liaison with Managed Care Contracting when needed.
REQUIREMENTS
1.4 years of college level education or Bachelor's degree.
2.Experience in transplant administration or patient billing preferred.
