Sr Specialist, Safety and Security
Job Description: Summary
Develops and administers policies and programs to ensure all facilities are in compliance with safety and health requirements and have effective company security procedures and techniques. Oversees proper emergency evacuation procedures and training. Implements policies for access control to DHL facilities. Acts as a liaison with law enforcement officials. Ensures security of all company property, employees and visitors. Investigates theft, fire and sabotage by employees, customers or other personnel. Coordinates inspections and tours of facilities to detect existing or potential accident, health and security hazards and recommends corrective actions. Investigates fraudulent claims in conjunction with insurance companies.Tasks & Accountabilities
Takes part in establishing and implementing DHL's policies and procedures in regards to health, safety and security regulations. Plans and administers training programs and distributes materials in accident and fire prevention and protection, loss prevention, and other employee safety and security procedures. Inspects company facilities and recommends actions for the correction of hazardous situations. Investigates accidents and security violations and completes or verifies resulting reports. Maintains records on lost time accidents and prepares appropriate reports. Examines new equipment for safety hazards. Implements hazardous waste control and disposal activities including training, collection, disposal and records maintenance. Investigates fraudulent claims in conjunction with insurance agencies. Investigates suspected incidents of illegal activity or cases of suspected fraud by employees, vendors or third parties. Maintains case management and evidence in accordance with legal requirements and resolves cases in an appropriate manner, which may include arrest, prosecution, corrective action, and recommendations to prevent future occurrences. Compiles and analyzes Workers' Compensation data. Coordinates loss prevention programs with customers. May provide guidance, training and support to lower-level safety staff.Skills & Qualifications
Seasoned professional. Concerned with problems that have a direct and important effect on business programs and results. Serves as consultant to management on major matters pertaining to policies, plans, and objectives. State-of-the-art knowledge of technologies, processes, and practices. Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline and 8-11 years experience in related field or MS/MA and generally 5-7 years experience in related field.
