Position Title: Special Property Underwriter

Travel Percentage: 10-25%

Job Summary:
Under technical direction, underwrites and analyzes new and renewal builders risk and other commercial Inland Marine business to ensure proper classification and pricing. Administers and monitors underwriting rules and guideline, insurance laws and regulations, and rating annual rules. Works within significant limits and authority on assignments of higher technical complexity and coordination. May provide guidance to lower level associates.

Job Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent

Must have 3 or more years of related commercial Inland Marine underwriting experience.

1. Demonstrated technical knowledge and skills reflective of progression of positions of increasing responsibility.
2. Excellent communication skills.
3. In-depth knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines.
4. Solid knowledge of processing methods and workflow procedures, and basic knowledge of insurance underwriting and regulations for assigned territories.
5. Ability to effectively assess risk.
6. Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing, regulations and guidelines.
7. Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.8. Ability to multi-task.
9. Must be able to function effectively in team environment.
10. PC literate.
