Senior Underwriter

The key responsibility of the Senior Underwriter is to work with producers to identify, assess and accept risks that will be profitable. This objective is achieved through providing superior service and partnership to existing producers to retain and expand coverage on the renewal book of business, and expand new business writings. Some travel involved.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accountability for growth in production and account retention; mix and quality of accounts.

Produce new and retain renewal business by marketing through brokerage and binding authority insurance carriers.

Investigate and compile information necessary to pre-underwrite or underwrite account.

Analyze brokerage market preferences and binding authority options for class of business to structure price and coverages.

Network successfully with fellow employees and peer group.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensed resident insurance agent.

College Degree in a business or technically related field, plus three years of experience in the production, underwriting or marketing of commercial lines insurance.

OR ten years experience in the production, underwriting or marketing of commercial lines insurance.

A professional insurance designation (e.g. AU, ARM, CPIW), or the ability to achieve a professional designation in a reasonable amount of time.

Surplus lines experience a definite plus.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

The ability to be approved for a major credit card.
