Senior Commercial Lines Field Underwriter

Responsibilities:As a Commercial Lines Field Underwriter for Safeco’s Business Insurance products, the chosen individual will underwrite and price both new and renewal mid market commercial lines business within their assigned territory. The Senior Underwriter will provide a high level of customer service, delivering timely responses to agents on quotes and renewals. In addition, the selected candidate will manage an assigned group of select agents on the products, programs, philosophy and the computer system which Safeco Business Insurance (SBI) offers. The Field Underwriter maintains high technical knowledge of coverages, exposures, rating plans, state requirements, competitors, market conditions, and company programs. This individual will be expected to negotiate specific accounts and develop growth plans for their assigned group of agents. Please note, at least 50% of the field underwriter’s work week will be spent in the field working directly and personally with the agents in their territory.Requirements:A minimum of 3 years of Commercial Lines Multiline Underwriting Experience is required for this opening, along with a demonstrated knowledge of the P&C Insurance Industry. The selected candidate must have the proven ability to negotiate and demonstrate persuasion and problem solving skills. Solid oral and written communication skills and strong sales skills are also required. Candidate must be able to work independently as this position will report remotely to our Dallas, TX underwriting operation.
