Regulatory Affairs & Product Safety Specialist

Responsible to assure that fragrances submitted, selling, and in repertoire are in strict compliance to customer guidelines, Global regulations and Industry standards, Acquire information/data necessary to accurately determine product compliance and generate timely documentation required for internal/external use. Serve as a technical resource to NA Fragrances for chemical ingredients and finished compounds. Ensure regulatory compliance by maintaining the integrity of the data and systems utilized by RAPS. Develop innovative tools and PC based solutions to meet emerging Regulatory requirements and client initiated projects, and coordinates or shares them with the global team for best practices.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
•Serves as gatekeeper ensuring that Givaudan’s fragrance submissions are in compliance with all required guidelines through use of regulatory systems and data management.
•Generates timely and accurate documentation required to meet internal and external customer requirements.
•Provides technical feedback/instructions to assist the creative community in improving their effectiveness in creating, selecting, or modifying fragrances to meet global regulatory requirements.
•Works independently to ensure the accuracy of quality formulae and execution of functional routines such as NORMS checks, Natural versus Synthetic content, Vapor Pressure, Inventory calculations, et cetera.
•Develops relationships with our client’s safety/regulatory contacts to facilitate continued/improved business relationships.
•Develop and implement routine procedures to challenge data integrity through audits and queries of regulatory databases.
•Reports gaps in QMS database integrity to manager.
•Stay abreast of the need for new data, especially changes in regulations,, ingredients, and supply patterns, to proactively ensure on-going regulatory compliance.
•Utilizes systems knowledge, data architecture and personal computing skills to develop unique and efficient solutions to Regulatory or client based initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry is required: and advanced degree in chemistry, pharmacy or biological sciences is strongly preferred.

A good working knowledge of chemistry and strong problem-solving skills are essential success factors.

Strong PC skills are mandatory including competency in MS office products, with advanced prowess in Excel and Query writing ability.

Familiarity with AS400/SAP or similar Enterprise Management systems is required.

Experience in fragrance industry or related field and an understanding of common fragrance industry ingredients, terminology and formula construction is desirable
