Property Sr Claims Representative
This is a field position that works from home and covers the Fort Dodge territory, which includes Sac, Calhoun, Webster, Carroll, Boone, and Guthrie Counties.
JOB SUMMARY: Investigates and resolves personal lines property damage claims via telephone or face-to-face claims handling. Responsible for the handling of claims in accordance within prescribed authority and best claims practices.

RELATIONSHIP: Reports to Claims Manager
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Determines proper policy coverages and applies where necessary best claims practices to conclude, investigate, evaluate, and negotiate assigned property claims cases in accordance with company guidelines. Adheres to high standards of professional conduct while providing delivery of superior claims service.
2.
Plans and executes all time schedules necessary to promptly and effectively conclude assigned cases.
3.
Establishes and authorizes reserves and claims payments within the delegated authority.
4.
Maintains current knowledge of multiple lines of insurance; court decisions which may impact the claims function; current guidelines in the claims function; and policy changes and modifications. This may require attendance at various seminars and/or training sessions.
5.
Initiates and conducts follow-ups via proficient use of claims systems and related business systems.
6.
Maintains current knowledge of local industry repair procedures and local market pricing.
7.
Assists or prepares files for suit, trial, or subrogation.
8.
Cooperates with sales and underwriting in the acquisition and retention of desirable risks.
9.
Submits administrative reports as required.
10.
Properly maintains all assigned company equipment.
11.
Performs all other duties as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Knowledge: Undergraduate degree preferred. Ongoing, job-related continuing education preferred. State licensing where required. Successful completion of required claims certification classes/schools. Demonstrated knowledge of claims handling and claims best practices. Insurance theory and practices, insurance contracts and their application. Property estimating and automated claims systems.
Experience: Two years related property claims handling experience. Experience is a customer service environment including flexible work schedules and extended hours preferred.
Skills: Analytical skills necessary to make decisions/resolve conflicts such as application of coverages to submitted claims, application of laws of jurisdiction to investigation facts, application of policy exclusions and exceptions. Organizational skills to effectively prioritize work. Command of written/verbal communication skills for contact and/or negotiations with policyholders, claimants, repairpersons, attorneys, agents and the general public. Ability to efficiently operate personal computer and software for claims-related and other business applications.

JOB CONDITIONS:
Overtime Eligibility: Not Eligible (Exempt).
Working Conditions: Field claims environment. May require ability to sit and use telephone and personal computer for extended periods of time. Representatives may be required to operate an automobile and have a valid driver's license with a safe driving record. Must be able to make physical inspections of property loss sites. Must be able to climb ladders, balance at various heights, stoop, bend and/or crawl to inspect vehicles and structures. Must be able to work out of doors in all types of weather. Must be willing to work irregular hours and to travel with possible overnight requirements. Must be available to work catastrophes (CAT) requiring travel to CAT site with multiple onsite responsibilities and/or for extended periods of time. Extended and/or non-standard hours as required..
