JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Senior Project Manager will demonstrate a mastery of project management methods, practices, tools, and techniques. They will manage large, complex projects involving sub-project managers and multiple project plans.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Partners with project sponsors and technical teams to evaluate client’s business requirements and develop approaches and solution alternatives. Develops business requirements into the form of a project charter or project scope document, and manages project infrastructure through the creation, collection, and maintenance of project documentation. Creates an overall project plan using project management tools as appropriate, integrating project plans from multiple sources to create cohesive plan with identifiable critical path, task dependencies, and major milestones. Solicits business requirements and parameters from project workgroup. Manages project deliverables and objectives and works with operational units to forecast manpower requirements as necessary. Develops cost/benefit analyses, project budgetary information including ROI, and any capital appropriation information as needed, in concert with the business client. Performs post project reviews to close project and to address post-project issues, concerns, and improvement Works with client business units as a customer liaison to participate in relationship building and be involved in business unit strategic and tactical planning. Continually reviews project workflow and processes, recommending new or changed processes. Participates in corporate and division wide direction for project management functionality. Performs other related duties as required or assigned by management.
REQUIREMENTS


REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, a related field or any combination of education and/or work experience providing equivalent background preferred.

 

Certification/License:  PMP Certification desired, but not required.

 

Experience:

Seven plus years of project management experience with a working knowledge of health plan products in a health plan environment required. 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Must possess the ability to balance multiple priorities and have managed or coordinated complex projects. In depth operational knowledge of managed care or health care business preferred. Thorough knowledge of PC based software programs including MS Project as well as automated database management systems required. Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills required. Strong organization and time/project management skills required Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks required. Ability to refine project management skills and techniques required.
