Programmer Analyst
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial IT has an opening for a Programmer Analyst on the Management Information System (MIS) team. MIS is Chubb’s worldwide internal management reporting application. Its primary purpose is to measure the adjusted gross underwriting profit or loss by line of business for worldwide profit centers. MIS also provides information for controlling expenses, evaluating performance trends, measuring growth and determining staffing needs. This information is delivered primarily online using client/server and web-based applications which provide parameter-driven reports, ad hoc capabilities, and a manual adjustment facility. The system is very complex and consists of approximately 2230 jobs, 135 DB2 tables and 335 modules.
The selected candidate's primary responsibilities would be to support the MIS application and customers, and to implement various work priorities and projects. The candidate must be comfortable with multi-tasking and be able to function in a dynamic environment.
As a Programmer Analyst, you are accountable for:
•Helps in the evaluation of client area application programming requirements and processes (e.g. new, enhancements or maintenance)
•Participating in the analysis, development/maintenance, testing and implementation of applications development, problem solutions and enhancements
•Designs and codes programs; creates test transactions and runs tests to find errors and revise programs; writes documentation that describes installation and operating procedures
•Writes programs of moderate complexity and scope, working with basic applications systems designs and specifications and utilizing standard procedures and techniques
•Interfaces with system designers to design, code, test and implement application programs; assists in developing application specifications
•Participate in post implementation reviews of both application development content and process to maximize and share learning
•Develop coding solutions
•Devising verification methods and test cases, and participates in system testing; design, construction and testing of changes
•Review, analyze and modify programming systems, including encoding, testing, debugging and documenting programs
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
•Works with minimal supervision and is competent in most phases of systems analysis and programming to work on own, and requires only some general direction for the balance of activities

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
•Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and at least two, typically four or more years experience in application program development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
•Proficient in JCL, COBOL, DB2 and FOCUS, and familiarity with application development support
•Insurance background as well as familiarity with Vista Plus, Zeke, HTML, Javascript, Oracle and WebFOCUS is a plus
•Proven analytical ability, judgment and the ability to work effectively with customers, IT managers and staff
