Dole Food Company, Inc., with 2003 revenues of $5.9 billion, is the world's largest producer and marketer of high-quality fresh fruit, fresh vegetables and fresh-cut flowers. Dole markets a growing line of packaged foods and frozen fruit and is a produce industry leader in nutrition and research.

REPORTS TO: Director, Risk Management

Supports the Director of Risk Management to oversee the planning, development and administration of risk management programs for the company. This position needs to work closely with various divisions to identify needs and solve problems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

General Duties and Standards

Research, evaluate and make recommendations regarding current and state-of-the-art trends in risk management, safety, loss control and claims management strategies

Assist with the development of standard processes and procedures for risk management functions

Review insurance provisions of leases, contracts and other legal documents to evaluate appropriateness of wording

Provide consultation and technical advise on insurance and risk management issues to Corporate and Divisions

Assist Director with the preparation and presentation of financial and departmental reports to management and Divisions

Develop and maintain an Insurance & Risk Management Program Manual for distribution to Divisions and Business Units

Assist Director with the preparation of the risk management and insurance budget, including cost allocations to Divisions

Insurance Purchases and Evaluation

Assist Director with the negotiation of insurance placement pricing, structure and limits for insurance policies and service agreements

Conduct cost/benefit analysis of program alternatives

Evaluate adequacy of limits and appropriateness of retentions/deductibles

Conduct industry benchmarking of limits, coverage and rates

Assist Director with maintaining strong relationships with the insurance markets, including brokers and underwriters

Claims Management

Assist with insurance claims management and claims litigation processes to ensure timely and equitable resolution.

Analyze loss data to identify trends; develop proactive strategies to minimize claims exposure and loss, and identify appropriate cost containment techniques

Collaborate with legal and other personnel on pertinent claims matters

Establish formalized claims service standards with service providers

Assist with the direction in development of an effective post-loss injury management program
REQUIREMENTS
Education

Bachelor's degree
ARM or CPCU designation preferred

Experience and Skills

5 years plus in insurance field (corporate risk management experience is a plus)

Experience working for a Large Fortune 500 company is a plus

Team player with ability to be a self starter and work independently

Ability to prioritize dynamic workload and effectively meet deadlines in a fast-past environment

Must be able to demonstrate strong work ethic and multi-tasking skills

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in diverse environments

Excellent administrative and organizational skills

Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, on-line data base systems
