Manager of Risk

My client, a successful, growing private company w/ revenues in excess of $150 million is in need of a progressive, operationally oriented Manager / Director of Risk. The company whose headquarters are located in the NW Houston area is a specialty contractor serving primarily the chemical and petroleum industries in domestic and international markets. Principal responsibilities of the position include 1) Working w/ the operations and engineering groups to effectively manage business risk and safety, 2) Managing the relationship w/ insurance brokers and underwriters including identifying optimal levels of insurance and other risk mitigation options, 3) Commercial contract reviews for risk issues, 4) Act as a liaison w/ outside attorneys w/ respect to litigation / claims and 5) Management of claim process. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and currently has one direct report. Requirements include a Bachelors degree in business and the appropriate risk profession certifications ---- Candidates should have at least 15 to 20 years risk / insurance experience preferably in the construction or manufacturing industries. We need a creative team player who likes working close to the operations. Looking for a self-starter who can effectively work in details or at a strategic level ---- People skills are important, as well as the ability to multi-task and take a practical approach.
