Projects software and hardware requirements in conjunction with other IT Managers. Ensures effective coordination and technical support between programmers, developers, testers, interfacing system groups, and end-users. Oversees the analysis and evaluation of current or proposed technology-related solutions that address business problems. Ensures adherence to quality standards. Evaluates and implements methods to maximize group efficiency. Prepares activity and progress reports regarding group or project status. Provides input for process standards, and ensures proper processes are in place to guide the consistent documentation and delivery of end user needs. Consistently demonstrates knowledge of managerial concepts, practices, and procedures through the leadership of programming, testing, or hardware resources. Works effectively with several levels of management by independently solving problems and making decisions. Knows when to involve the appropriate management levels on more complex issues.
Bachelor's Degree in an IT discipline, which could include Computer Science or MIS, or in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, at least 4 years of experience in a professional IT-related role.

At least 8-10 years of related work experience in IT, which should include successful experience leading or managing a team of technical resources.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with others, including senior management.

Proven organizational and planning skills.

Demonstrated analytical and problem solving abilities.

Experience coaching and/or mentoring others for improved performance and career success, which includes the ability to take proactive actions to address issues that may impact team performance.

Proven experience influencing the outcome of events to achieve desired results.

The ability to successfully manage/oversee multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.

Known as a positive role model of Company direction and policies.

The ability to perform effectively under pressure or opposition.

Claims IT is looking for an experienced, highly motivated manager to be responsible for the core Claims application, Industry Reporting, Fraud Investigation, and various financial and other downstream/external vendor interfaces. This position entails overseeing major development projects as well as 'run the business' efforts and working closely with business partners to ensure on time delivery. This manager will also develop strategies to move the team in new technical directions, including moving off mainframe and from batch to real time. Managing a set of diverse projects and building strong customer relationships are keys to success in this position.

Required skills:

- Demonstrated leadership, motivational and interpersonal skills
- Strong communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to implement innovative ideas and processes

Preferred skills:
- Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley controls
- Experience with .Net
- Experience with mainframe technologies (DB2, COBOL, CICS)
