Job Description:
Job Functions/Responsibilities:
Handles cases at all levels of complexity/severity as determined by the Workers’ Compensation Litigation Manager.
Appears at hearings on behalf of the company/insured, as jurisdictionally permitted.
Identifies all legal issues and aggressively pursues a favorable resolution.
Prepares legal documents in accordance with the court or Boards rules.
Manages assigned cases by coordinating with involved parties to develop a cost effective litigation plan.
Demonstrates a technical competence in applying the law, regulations and rulings to the facts of each case.
Coordinates and resolves outstanding liens from medical providers/vendors for the purpose of cost savings/reduction for company.
Conducts depositions on behalf of the company/insured, as jurisdictionally permitted.
Prepares and files motions with the court or Board, as jurisdictionally
permitted.
Provides training sessions to the technical staff based on developing jurisdictional trends.

Knowledge and Skills:
Advanced experience in legal and procedural aspects of hearings
Advanced negotiating and technical skills.
Advanced understanding of workers’ compensation claim adjusting.
Advanced technical knowledge of law, regulations, case rulings and medical and legal terminology.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience.

Experience: Five years of workers’ compensation claims adjusting complex cases.
