Environmental Claims Examiner

Position Description:

Specifics duties include analyzing coverage, resolving coverage issues, investigating and evaluating complex liability and damage potentialities. Post accurate loss and expenses as well as re-evaluate reserve exposures during the life of a claim. Devise and carry out effective litigation strategies as well as monitor and direct defense counsel. Maintain an active and well documented diary and manage a productive and efficient file inventory. Adhere to all statutory regulations,Unfair Claim Practices Acts, company guidelines and customer handling instructions for Special Risk accounts. Other duties include proactively managing expenses within company guidelines as well as overseeing and supervising investigators, vendors and expert witnesses.
REQUIREMENTS
Competencies/Tech Skills:

The candidate must demonstrate the ability to address complex coverage issues and manage complex multi-party litigation exposures. A knowledge of the issues that commonly arise in toxic tort and environmental claims is preferred. A strong knowledge of rules of civil procedure, legal jurisprudence and industry trends is essential. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a collaborative fashion with a wide spectrum of people as well as develop and maintain strong business relationships with agents, customers, co-workers and underwriters. Strong negotiation, analytical, organizational, coverage and time management skills are required. The aptitude to share and impart knowledge within a team environment is a strong benefit.
