DFI Underwriter

Skills
• Previous underwriting experience, preferably 2 or more years
• All lines (property, casualty, fidelity and professional liability) experience is a plus or a concentration in property and casualty.
• Ability to analyze and research complex risk and review DFI's underwriting strategies
• Proven ability to successfully negotiate on all levels and develop producer relationships
• Service Oriented
• Ability to work independently and cohesively in a team environment as well as interact with other branch team members and leaders.
• Excellent Time management and desk management skills are essential
• Communicate effectively verbally as well as though the written word.

Position

This underwriter will contribute to the Philadelphia DFI Region, which is $52,000,000 in written premium year end 2005. Philadelphia DFI services the Philadelphia, Florham Park and Harrisburg territories. The underwriter will be responsible for underwriting and managing a renewal book of $6,000,000 (including retention, profitability, rate needs and risk exposure). The responsibilities also included negotiating renewals as well as production of new business for assigned agencies. Travel throughout the territory will be necessary. Identifying new opportunities through building producer relationships is critical for this position.


Education:
Bachelors' degree preferred or equivalent work experience
