CLAIMS ADJUSTER TRAINEES
Claims Division, Salem, Oregon
SAIF Corporation, the leading workers’ compensation insurance provider in Oregon, is a not-for-profit, state-chartered workers’ compensation insurance company. SAIF Corporation has been helping Oregon businesses and workers for more than 90 years.
At SAIF Corporation, the Claims Division is one of our largest and most essential departments. Like all of SAIF Corporation, Claims prides itself on providing high quality service to injured workers and to employers throughout the state of Oregon. Time and again, customer surveys confirm that we’re succeeding.
Our Claims Division, centrally located at our corporate headquarters in Salem, employs over 250 expert staff, including claims adjusters, specialists, assistants and supervisors. The staff is divided into regional teams in order to give exceptional service to our customers throughout Oregon.
Claims Adjusters investigate and evaluate workers’ compensation claims; make decisions on compensability, benefit entitlement, reserves, and settlements; and coordinate claims processing and management activities. They serve as an advocate for the injured worker, but balance that by maintaining a strong relationship with the employer. They interact, primarily by telephone, with the injured worker, employer, and medical provider as well as with SAIF’s nurse consultants, legal staff, return-to-work consultants, vocational coordinators and others. Occasionally they testify at hearings or have the opportunity to visit an employer’s work site.
Claims Adjuster Trainees attend a formal 11-week training program to become claims adjusters. During the program trainees receive classroom and on-the-job training and obtain the basic skills and knowledge needed to perform the duties of an adjuster. At the successful conclusion of the training, claims adjuster trainees become certified as Claims Examiners by the state of Oregon and are assigned a caseload and mentor to ensure success in their new roles.
But it doesn’t end there. At SAIF, dependable, expert customer service is a cornerstone of our success. Because we place a high value on the service our claims adjusters provide, we continue to support them through on-going training.
