Evaluate and process claims which require a high degree of analysis and judgment (life or disability) in accordance with the AFG policy terms, insurance law, coverage record and adjusting guidelines to ensure claims are handled properly. Act as a direct contact and communicate with customers, employers and medical providers in a positive, knowledgeable and professional manner providing them with direction and assistance in all facets of insurance coverage and needs.

Representative, Benefits Adjuster Senior - DL
Evaluate and process life or disability claims which require a high degree of analysis and judgment in accordance with AFG policy, insurance laws and coverage records in a consistent manner to ensure claims are handled properly. Investigate pre-existing conditions by corresponding with providers, employer, claimant and/or attorney. Monitor overpaid claims to minimize overpayments. Communicate with customers in a positive, knowledgeable manner. Possesses an advanced knowledge of claim philosophy and contract interpretation, and extensive knowledge of automated claim and paperless image systems in order to provide TEAM training and mentoring.
REQUIREMENTS
Rep, Benefit Adjuster, Trainee - DL:
6 months to 1 year financial, medical or insurance claims processing experience
Medical terminology preferred
General PC knowledge
Calculator 10-key skills required

Achievement of High School Diploma / GED
One to three years of disability or life claim processing experience to three or more years medical claim processing experience
10-key, calculator, PC and PC applications
Ability to effectively utilize basic office equipment

Basic understanding of medical terminology and physiology
Knowledge of insurance claim processing and regulations
Knowledge of case management tools and ability to apply

High school/GED required, some college or degree preferred.
3 years or more of disability or life claim processing experience in risk analysis or contract development.
Advanced knowledge of insurance claims processes and regulations preferred.
Possesses PC Windows-based software knowledge, including Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to train on new applications and work in a paperless environment.
Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and physiology.
Advanced knowledge of case management tools and ability to effectively apply.
Ability to utilize basic office equipment, such as 10-key and calculator.
